Main research lines:

  • Molecular mechanisms and epidemiology of antimicrobial resistance.
  • In vitro and in vivo evolution of resistance
  • Analysis of the resistome and virulome through whole genome sequencing
  • Peptidoglycan recycling and regulation of AmpC expression
  • Cell-wall biology
  • Host-pathogen interactions
  • Interplay between resistance and virulence
  • Epidemiology and pathogenesis of chronic bacterial infections
  • Bacterial adaptation mechanisms and role of hypermutation
  • In vitro and in vivo experimental therapeutics
  • Bacterial biofilms

Our research lines are mainly based on Pseudomonas aeruginosa as model organism, but also include other Gram negative pathogens such as Enterobacterales or Acinetobacter baumannii and some Gram positives such as Staphylococcus spp. or Clostridioides difficile
